Fast Food Choices
What to Choose & NOT to Choose
When you're watching your weight, fast food is generally a "no-no". Some of the worst food choices can be found on fast food menus. The WORST choices include croissant style breakfast sandwiches, chicken nuggets, fried fish or fried chicken sandwiches. Avoid any item that lists the "special sauce" as an ingredient...many condiments contain as much as 500+ calories. In addition, stay away from soda, shakes, french fries and onion rings... they spell disaster!
Here's a few healthy alternatives you may want to consider:
- Subway Roasted Chicken Breast 6-Inch Sub on Country Wheat = 300 calories
- Taco Bell Soft Chicken Taco = 190 calories
- Panera Bread: SOUPS (8 oz servings): Low Fat Vegetarian Garden Vegetable: 100 calories; Lentil Soup 120 calories; Low Fat Chicken Noodle 110 calories.
- Dunkin Donuts Ice Coffee w/ Skim Milk - 16 oz. = 20 calories (no sugar)
As a reminder....... When eating out:
- Avoid the salad bar & buffet... It's an invitation to overeat.
- Ask your server NOT to bring the bread basket
- Request that your salad dressing be served on the side
- Order steamed vegetables to avoid being served veggies drenched in butter
